Reflection 7

What? This week Debra and i continued working on our digital story. We found more information on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and started planning it out and how we want to out it in i-movie.
So What? This technology stuff is really important to me as a student and as a future teacher. I may not be the best at it but i really do enjoy making these projects and learning what i can. With my digital story i have found that it will be really benificial to show my students. So i do hope that i can share my story with my class and that they can share theirs with me as well. I think that the digital story is a great way to learn this great technology.
Now What? For my future students i think that digital stories will help them learn in a new different way, either for previewing, or reviewing. Digital stories will also be a fun new thing to share with my colleagues, most of them will probably know what one is, but to show them one that i made and tell them i know how to make one, would be pretty cool. I hope that my finish product on the digital story works out and it will be something a lot of people will want to use.

Reflection 6

What? This week we learned all about why we do not steal information from the internet. We can only take if we give credit.

So What? This lesson was very relevant to today's society. There are so many things being stolen from the internet, and not much is being done to help prevent it. So what i can do today is make sure that i am citing my information and not stealing other peoples work from the internet. Once i get out into the work force i will need to make sure that i am being an example to my colleauges, so that we are all using the information while giving those who made it credit.

Now What? Now i need to take this information and transfer it to my students. There has to be a video or an activity out there that you could show your studnets, so that they know how bad and harmful stealing from the internet is. I think even when you are sharing lesson plans or projects with your collaborating teachers you need to give the teacher that made the lesson plan credit. You can not say that you did something when you really didn't.

Reflection 5

What? This week in class we started our digital stories. For this week we had to choose a topic and the main points of what we wanted to have in our digital stories.

So What? Basically this week we did an outline for our digital stories. Outlines have/can help me in my classes right now. Whenever i am writing a paper or teaching a lesson i can make an outline of what i need to say. By making the outline it organizes my thoughts, which can help me as now while i am in college and also when i am a teacher and have to write out my lesson plans.

Now What? With what i have learned this week, it should help me be a better teacher and colleauge. I now know how to start a digital story which also helps in organizing information. I know that i can take this knowledge and one day make a cool digital story and show it to my students. This can make learning fun and get them excited about a certain unit. It will also show my students a little more about technology that they might have not known about. I am excited to keep on learning how to make a digital story.

Vidcast Reflection

Mine and Rachelle’s vidcast, “All about the Clouds,” goes along with the fourth grade curriculum. This vidcast would be really beneficial to show to your class as an introduction to all the different types of clouds. We chose this topic because clouds are out almost all the time and it can be hard to decipher between the different types. With our vidcast children should be able to know and understand the different types of clouds a little better.

Our vidcast does connect to the NETS and the INTASC standards. It is engaging to the students and can improve their learning and attitude toward school. It also engages in the professional growth and leadership of the teacher. When the teacher knows that their kids are having fun while learning it helps the teacher grow and expand their teaching models.

With this vidcast there can be some drawbacks. The vidcast might move to quickly for some students, so they wouldn’t have the same growing and learning experience as others. Something we could have done differently would have been to speak in it more so that the children can hear about the clouds as well as follow along.

If I ever teach fourth grade I think showing them this vidcast would really be beneficial. It can have its draw backs like I mentioned above. If those were a problem though I could just read the words out loud to my class. The students can really relate to the music and pictures that go along with the vidcast, they are fun and catchy and make watching the vidcast fun and entertaining. The kids will be learning the different types of clouds while laughing and having fun!

Reflection 4

What? This week i learned how to make a vidcast. My partner and i had to make and educational video, and we decided to do it on the different cloud types, and what they resemble.

So What? To me this means a whole new chapter has been opened to me. It is so cool to be able to make a vidcast and then have your students learn from it. They are not to hard to make and, and they are a fun way of learning. It's like watching a video, and who doesn't like watching a video?! With this technology that i am learning i really hope to be able to remember it and then one day show my colleagues how wonderful and usefull this tool is.

Now What? Everytime i learn something new in my technology class i am amazed at how usefull the tools are to a teacher and what he/she can use in the classroom. For my students i think vidcasts can make learning fun away from school. If they have a project or need instructions on how to do something if i make a vidcast showing them, then they can watch it at home and now exactly what to do. It would be fantastic if my colleagues new about vidcasts and how to make one, so that we could share ideas and maybe ones we have already made. If they don't know though, then i hope to teach them and make them see how usefull vidcasts are!
